The Seconds Sale

Thank you for visiting our website for information regarding the format for our next Seconds Sale Monday which will be held on April 13, 2026, in downtown Merigold.

In order to create a safer, more orderly experience for our customers and the downtown community, we will be implementing an advance lottery system for entry to the sale.

ADVANCE LOTTERY ENTRY

Participation in the Seconds Sale will be limited to 250 customers, who will be selected at random through an advance lottery.

Customers who wish to attend must enter the lottery during the designated entry period (details and link will be posted on our website). After the entry period closes, 250 participants will be randomly selected and notified by email with their assigned time slot for entry.

Please note:

  • You may register only once; additional registrations will not be allowed.

  • You must be 16 years of age or older to participate.

  • Only individuals selected through the lottery will be admitted to the sale. Customers who are not selected through the lottery will not be admitted.

TO ENTER THE 2026 LOTTERY, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS LINK:

Thank you for your interest in the McCartys Seconds Sale. The 2026 lottery is now closed.

The 250 participants selected to attend this year’s sale have been notified via email. We encourage all entrants to check their spam folders to ensure they do not miss a notification.

Thank you for your submission. If you were not selected to attend this year’s Seconds Sale, we hope you’ll try again next year.

CHECK-IN REQUIREMENTS

  • Each selected participant must show identification (driver’s license) at check-in and at the door.

  • The name and driver's license number on the photo ID must match the name and number selected in the lottery.

  • Lottery spots are non-transferable and may not be sold, traded, given away, or exchanged.

  • Only the selected individual may enter during their assigned time slot.

This policy prevents duplicate entries and ensures fairness for all participants by preventing individuals from trading, giving, swapping, or selling their spots.

CHECK-IN TIME

Customers selected through the lottery will be assigned a specific time to arrive and check in, and to take their place in line. There will be a tent downtown in front of the Seconds Sale building for check-in. Please arrive during your check-in time and take your assigned spot (by your number) in line.

We are asking everyone NOT to arrive before your designated time in order to make parking easier and more convenient for everyone, and to eliminate the congestion and long walks to your vehicles. While there is no time limit on your shopping as such, once your basket is full, you will be asked to check out in order to keep the line moving.

Once admitted, customers will shop according to the shopping policies outlined below.

Parking:

  • Please feel free to park anywhere downtown, but be mindful not to block anyone in, and please do not park in front of the Post Office so residents can get their mail.

What to Expect:

  • Please be advised that even with staggered arrival times, customers may still wait several hours in line before entering the sale.

  • Please bring water, snacks (especially if you have low blood sugar issues), a folding chair, and any medicines that you may need during the day or early evening.

  • Porto Potties will be provided downtown.

  • Hey Joe's restaurant located in downtown Merigold will be serving lunch throughout the day during the Seconds Sale.

SHOPPING POLICIES

The Second Sale is limited to the customers who have been selected in the lottery. We will not allow other individuals to shop through participants via FaceTime or other technological means. We have noticed over the years a developing trend of people shopping through Second Sale participants, and last year, it grew out of control with individuals functioning as personal shoppers and buying nothing for themselves. These individuals greatly slowed the check-out process since they were in constant communication with numerous other individuals.

To increase the number of pieces available to all customers and to decrease checkout time, we will limit each customer to:

  • One small laundry basket per entry (provided by McCartys)

Please note that customers will be asked to check out once their basket is full.

Basket Details

The basket provided is a 1.5 bushel laundry basket measuring 24" x 17" x 10".

  • No outside containers, bags, trash cans, or stacking beyond what the basket will hold will be allowed.

  • Please note that customers must be able to pick up, hold, and walk with the laundry basket during the course of the sale.

  • Customers must decide what they are physically able to carry. Customers are personally responsible for their own physical safety.

  • The weight of the pieces will necessarily limit the number of pieces that a customer may purchase; for example, the average customer would not be able to pick up, hold, and carry 40 pieces of pottery while shopping.

  • Once a basket is full, customers will be asked to proceed to checkout.

CHECKOUT & PICKUP

After checkout:

  • Once a customer has checked out, our staff will move the pieces outside to a table and place the pieces on the table with the customer's name on a dry erase board.

  • The staff will return the basket inside.

  • Staff will assist with loading purchases into vehicles.

  • Once the pieces are on a table outside, customers may call someone to pick them up, or customers may leave to get their vehicles. Our staff will remain with the pieces and assist in loading the pieces into the vehicle.

  • Customers are encouraged to bring containers or padding in their vehicles for safe transport and easy loading.

If multiple customers arrive in one vehicle, please plan accordingly and keep purchases separate.

Once the customer checks out, then the sale for that customer has concluded. Customers will not be allowed to return to the back of the line and go through the sale a second time. We are implementing this policy to eliminate congestion in Merigold.

SALE TERMS

  • We accept cash and checks only.

  • For checks, please have personal identification such as a driver's license available at checkout.

  • Please remember all sales are final, and there are no refunds or exchanges.

  • Any questions regarding a total and/or a transaction must be addressed at the register. Once a customer exits, then the sale is final.

We do not encourage customers to travel long distances, since there is a possibility that we may sell out before the end of the line goes through the building. Please rest assured that we are making every effort to make sure that there are pieces for those who come later in the sale, but it is difficult to guarantee it.

ADDITIONAL POLICIES

  • No open flames (fire pots, campfires, etc.).

  • No pets allowed inside the building.

  • We do not sell to businesses or individuals purchasing for resale. We reserve the right to refuse service to those buying as a business enterprise.

  • We are not responsible for personal property.

We are implementing this policy in order to provide the best selection possible to our individual customers. We believe this advance lottery format creates a safer, fairer, and more enjoyable Seconds Sale experience for everyone, while eliminating downtown congestion.

We look forward to seeing lottery winners in Merigold on April 13, 2026.
